The forthcoming BRICS Summit in Goa on October 15-16, 2016 reflects India’s status as a key player, both regionally and internationally. It is imperative that the grouping should reach out to people and the member countries join hands.

The theme put forward by India is ‘Building Responsive, Inclusive and Collective Solutions’, and will bring together the heads of state of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

To boost trade among the BRICS nations, India, for the first time, will organise a trade fair for the bloc that also includes Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa.

Proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the fi rst BRICS Trade Fair & Exhibition will be held from October 12-14 in New Delhi. The focus of the Fair is ‘Building BRICS - Innovation for Collaboration’. Showcasing about 20 key sectors - aerospace, agro-processing, auto, chemicals, green energy, healthcare, railways, textiles, infrastructure, IT, engineering goods, tourism, gems & jewellery and skill development, etc, the Fair will give an impetus to intra-BRICS economic engagement.
