The Pneumatic Transit consists of Jeffery Zampillo (Guitars, Mellotron, Ondes Martenot, Production); Michael Shell (Drums, Production); Carl Coan (Saxophones, Humor); Waz Fox (Rhodes, Moog); Willie Waldman (Trumpet, Flugelhorn) and Stephen Manns (Bass). Chordae Tendineae was recorded in various residential and commercial spaces from the Spring of 2017 to the Winter of 2019 with the use of a mobile recording unit comprising of gear manufactured by Focusrite and Warm Audio.

The concept of this album of music was conceived during the post production stages of “Concerto for Double Moon.” While mixing “Concerto” I became very bored by the arrangements and the overall content that was being presented. One lives and breathes a collection of compositions long enough to see them materialize and I personally grow weary and ultimately embarrassed by what I once perceived as a great sense of accomplishment. I see one thousand flaws in our previous record. Is this a matter of growth or change in taste?

I wanted “Chordae Tendineae” to sound raw with very little things done to the separate takes of the band. While there were charts and arrangements written for the four tunes, we were more concerned about capturing zeal than flawless execution of written and/or improvised passages. Furthermore, the urgency to employ natural room ambiences was just as important. We strived to make it sound like the many cassette tapes recorded with friends as teenagers. Remembering just getting a recording of the band playing together was enough, we incorporated this spirit.
