Radiant with cool and stylish energy but with love and longing at its heart, Lumenette’s debut album all around my head crosses between the realms of memory and dreams, morphing the past into alternate realities where new perspectives and divergent storylines emerge. From Nashville-based composer and singer Christine Byrd, whose breathy vocals linger over a mix of pop-forward instrumentation, driving beats, and ethereal washy ambiance, All Around My Head is an immersive journey through life’s trials and surreal blisses that will echo long after its final notes fade to silence.

Harnessing the cinematic beauty of bands like This Mortal Coil and the blurred heartache of shoegaze greats like Slowdive, Byrd constructs songs coursing with mystery. From the first stirrings of album opener “Alaska,” which shimmers to life from stillness, Byrd sets the stage for a record that exhibits both an uncommonly sharp perception of others and unflinchingly honest introspection. In scars left from mistakes, wounds and trauma, Byrd finds beauty and evidence of lives lived, seeing supposed flaws as marks of humanity worthy of understanding and celebration.

Acceptance is liberating, opening up avenues to realise vivid waking dreams of what could be on songs such as “2000 Feet” and “Mayflies,” and giving way to the thrill of shared secrets and adventure on “There To Here” and “Once More.” A classically trained singer, Byrd has worked as a special needs educator for the past sixteen years and began writing music for Lumenette driven by a need to bring her poetry, full of wonder, love, angst, and fears, to life. On All Around My Head, Byrd faces down those fears, acknowledging the darkness that agitates the corners of the mind and shedding light into it.
