Imperial Quartet is the meeting of four improvising musicians, accomplices since 2010, the year that saw the formation arrive on the baptismal font. This is their fourth album coming out today, and it fills our sharp ears, after Grand Carnaval, in 2016, Slim Fat, in 2013, Impérial 4tet, in 2011, albums that I particularly recommend! These excellent musicians draw their inspiration as much from traditional music, trance music as from the energy of rock. It is from there that their rhythm gives birth to aerial melodies and lyrical flights. An explosive mix that shakes up the traditional boundaries of genres and the labels that go with them. We find in this formation 2 saxophonists, Damien Sabatier, alto saxophones, sopranino, and Gérald Chevillon, tenor saxophone, both supported by a rhythmic section of hell, with Joachim Florent on the double bass and Antonin Leymarie on the drums. The quartet has embarked on an impossible and incredible journey to Louisiana… from where they bring us melodies from processions and multiple parades for a Zydeco Blues and a Rouge Baton for the best effect. Before continuing their quest towards the All Indians? with its suite of evocative titles, White Keys, Bayuk, Indian's First, Aïe Coco or Chant du Matin. The bassist composed four titles, the saxophonist three others, and the drummer a little last. An opus that sets fire and which is a real musical jambalaya in which we find Afro-American and Cajun music. A particularly successful musical creolization, since it is in this process that the different types of music actually emerge to become one! With this quartet, we no longer ask ourselves the question All Indians?, but we affirm it loud and clear, All Indians!
