AMIGA was the state owned ("peoples owned") record label of the former GDR. Who wanted to release music had to compromise to the state policy and control. Nevertheless a lot of great music was produced there and this project aims to collect some of this to prevent it from falling into oblivion. This collection is of course subjectively and will never be complete. Anyway, i hope you will have some fun with it!

Electra, früher auch Electra-Combo (Eigenschreibweise: electra), ist eine Rockband aus Dresden. Sie ist eine der ältesten aktiven Bands in Deutschland.

Sie wurde im Jahr 1969 durch Peter „Mampe“ Ludewig, Bernd Aust, Wolfgang Riedel, Karl-Heinz Ringel und Ekkehard Berger gegründet, die damals Studenten der Dresdner Musikhochschule Carl Maria von Weber waren.

Electra ist bekannt für elektronisch unterstützte Adaptionen klassischer Musik, aber auch für Progressive Rock mit ausdrucksstarkem Gesang und langen Instrumentalsoli. Bekannte Stücke sind Tritt ein in den Dom mit Stephan Trepte als Solosänger sowie Türkischer Marsch mit einem Flötensolo von Bernd Aust. Im Jahr 1980 erschien das Konzeptalbum Sixtinische Madonna. Im selben Jahr gewann die Band mit dem Lied Es brennen die Berge und Wälder den Grand Prix des Internationalen Schlagerfestivals Dresden. wikipedia
