The debut album "Rise" by young British saxophonist Jess Gillam is a compilation of pieces that showcase their exceptionally versatile musical talent in full breadth. Works by Marcello and Shostakovich are next to arrangements by David Bowie and Kate Bush. Recorded with the BBC Concert Orchestra and additional chamber musicians, as well as acclaimed guitarist Milos, who is involved in the John Dowland transcription "Flow my Tears," Rise reflects on her personal musical journey with pieces that inspired her as she progressed. A brand new commissioned work by Jess' teacher and mentor, renowned saxophonist John Harle entitled »Rant« is also included.
