Spiral Graphics Releases Fourth FREE Texture Collection!

The collection of 150 seamless terrain textures is available as a free download.

Spiral Graphics is best known for its Genetica node-based seamless texture editor for Windows, which is used primarily by professional 3D artists but also has many 2D design and illustration applications. Genetica is unusual in using a preset-based approach to texture generation that keeps it in a resolution-independent format. This makes possible rendering at up to 3,000 by 3,000, as well as the inclusion of embeddedable effect maps. To introduce users to this approach Spiral Graphics introduced Wood Workshop, a free material editor that comes with a collection of over 100 preset seamless wood textures, and has followed up with a series of free texture collections.

The most recent release provides a collection of free seamless textures in both JPEG and Genetica's GTX format. What makes GTX files useful is the accompanying free Genetica Viewer for Windows, which can rendering the textures, along with their corresponding effect maps. Users can also make a variety of adjustments, such as color changes, re-randomizing a texture or zooming it while maintaining seamless edges.
