History
The concept behind Xfrog is to give the user, powerful building blocks of Nature as modeling tools. Rather than draw, loft, extrude, revolve, the user procedurally defines organic forms using sliders.
XfrogPlants, are 30 libraries of popular plants, (2000+ plant models), and are built by botanical experts who gather real leaves and bark and painstakingly match photographic references to derive 3-9 variations of each Species of plants that they model.
The XfrogPlants are in all popular 3d formats and available as individual models, libraries, and bundles of libraries in our online shop.
In XfrogPlants Version 2.0 Fruit Trees Library included:
- Carica papaya
This 3D Papaya contains three highly detailed, fully textured 3D models of the plant at different ages.
Notes: The Papaya is a plant with a long stem that resembles a trunk. The stem in fact does not branch: it produces a thick spreading cluster of leaves at the top. The leaves are similar to those of the fig tree (hence the Latin name “Carica”). The green edible fruits turn orange when ripe. Unripe, they can be cooked as vegetables.
- Citrus aurantifolia
This 3D Mexican Lime contains three highly detailed, fully textured 3D models of the plant at different ages.
Notes: The Mexican Lime is an Asian species that was imported by the Arabs in the Middle East in ancient ages, and from there in Europe by the Crusaders. Later, Spanish exported it to the Americas. It is widely cultivated for the fruits that are used for drinks and to season fish. It can only grow in tropical or subtropical climates.
- Citrus paradisi
This 3D Grapefruit contains three highly detailed, fully textured 3D models of the plant at different ages.
Notes: The Grapefruit tree is the Citrus species with the largest fruits. The Paradisi variety was selected from Citrus maxima, to offer the sweeter taste fruits that are most appreciated. Like all Citri, Grapefruit too needs a lot of sun to grow healthy and produce a large crop. It is a widely cultivated species in the warm climate areas.
- Citrus sinensis
This 3D Sweet Orange contains three highly detailed, fully textured 3D models of the plant at different ages.
Notes: In spite of the name, the most ancient origin of this tree (and of all the Citrus genus) is not Chinese, but in the Malay archipelago, over 20 millions of years ago. The sweet orange species, however, might as well be the result of man induced crossovers. All fruits in the Citrus genus have a very high Vitamin C content.
- Citrus limon
This 3D Lemon contains three highly detailed, fully textured 3D models of the plant at different ages.
Notes: Imported in Europe by the Arabs, in the Middle Ages, the Lemon Tree grows best in warm climates but can also adapt to cooler climates if protected from cold winds and frost. It became wild in the Mediterranean, but it is cultivated everywhere because of the fruits (rich with C Vitamin) that are used for drinks and flavoring.
In addition to the library: Diospyros Kaki, Eriobotrya japonica, Ficus carica, Malus domestica, Mangifera indica, Musa x paradisiaca, Phoenix dactylifera, Prunus armeniaca, Prunus avium, Prunus domestica, Prunus persica, Prunus spinosa, Psidium guayava, Punica granatum, Pyrus communis……for more information about these cultures can be found here: http://issuu.com/
The DVDs also include 800 x 800 Billboards and 800 x 800 Perspective Renders, each with alpha, for single polygon opacity mapping, or direct compositing.
