Description
Meditation is a powerful practice that our ancestors have practices for thousands of years as a way to release stress and anxiety, gain mastery over their emotions, and cultivate lasting happiness and well-being. Today it is thought of as a fringe practice that you need a specific set of beliefs to practice, and that it is very difficult to learn. While meditation can be difficult, it is a simple process that is available to everyone that is willing to learn about themselves. Meditation as a practice is simple, the difficulty comes when trying to maintain a daily practice and practicing without judgement.  Meditation is a way to better understand ourselves by letting go of our need to "do" and instead opening up to experiencing whatever is present at any moment. This course will help take some of that stigma away from this ancient but powerful practice, and hopefully students of this course will be able to create a daily meditation practice that they can sustain. We will go through and learn about the physical, mental, and emotional benefits that meditation can bring, as well as a different way of looking at meditation. Meditation should be a way to connect with the self- to understand why certain thoughts, emotions and perceptions are present, without any judgement or without trying to come up with any reasons why they might be present. With a proper understanding about what is present at any moment, we can accept it, then direct our energy into making the best decisions that will help us grow, instead of letting this things create stress and suffering
