Description

This course goes over the colors in Hawaiian. You will learn to say the colors, to sing the colors, and learn songs, and vocabulary too.  The context and different practice is used in a conversation/dialogue that is infused with Hawaiian values and sayings common to respect of the Hawaiian ways and values between two people.  Hawaiian values are important to learn as well as the speaking aspect of Hawaiian because language and culture go hand in hand to the people. You will get practice in listening and speaking through listening, reading, hearing, and repeating phrases through repetition and practice. The dialogue is repeated twice and repetition happens twice for each sentence, and several more times during role playing of the different people speaking in the conversation.  Students have the ability to rewind and practice the dialogue in easy to see slides and visual aids. The use of songs are important because these types of pneumonic devices help people to memorize and remember words that can be hard when learning a different language. Many times, people will remember things better when they have another method to use besides just commiting things to rote memory. Songs help vocabulary to get embedded in the brain because they utilize both speaking, and singing which are two different methods for remembering Hawaiian words, phrases, vocabulary, and sentences.
