This course is for general public ,diabetics , pre-diabetics , gestational diabetics ,all health workers including pharmacists , nurses and medical students to gain knowledge of diabetes.The topics discussed in this course include:1) Different types of diabetes: Type 1 and Type 2, with their sign and symptoms and how they differ from each other.2) Diabetes as an auto immune disorder:  which attacks their own body immune system and destroy the islets of beta cells of pancreas and stops releasing hormone insulin from it that is required by the glucose to enter the cells of the muscles and tissues to use as energyInsulin resistant is explained when cells are not responding to the insulin released in the blood stream3) Sign and symptoms of Diabetes:  Excessive thirst ,increased frequency of micturation ,Increased hunger, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting , diarrhoea , fatigue, unexplained weight loss, frequent infections of GI system ,and skin infections.4) The course includes  explanation of major complications of the diabetes which affects organs such as heart , nerves , kidney and eyes.5) The course further explains.,the methods of diagnosing blood sugar which includes Home device Glucose meter and continuous monitoring by sensor under the skin for type 1 and Type 2 diabetes6) Types of insulin for subcutaneous use short and long acting7) Medications of Type 2 diabetes and their functions like Metformin, glimpride glicazide, sitagliptin linagliptin , saxagliptin, pioglitazone etc.8) Further specifying the Hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia9) Diabetic ketoacidosis.10) Details about the HHNS   i.e Hyperglycaemic hyperosmolar nonketotic syndrome is a life threatening condition with sugar level upto 600mg/dldark urine with seizuresHypoglycemia is also life threatening 11) Last but not the least about the gestational diabetes . How can we diagnose it and prevent  from serious complications of mother and baby .If gestational diabetes left untreated ,very large babies with severe breathing difficulties, obesity in later life and also the complications in mother of gestational diabetes.12)IUD (intra uterine death ) Still birth are the worst complications of gestational diabetes
