Description

There was a day in the local church when "somebody stand up and testify" was an every week occurrence within the weekend worship experience. It was a time for your church members to celebrate the goodness of God in their lives. Today, we can find, capture and bring these stories to life through video. The Story Guide takes years of storytelling knowledge and experience and distills it down into an online workshop. In true masterclass style, our instructors give you the tools to help you find, develop and produce stories found within your local church family.Meet Your InstructorsChris, Adam, and Gary have been sharing and crafting stories for the local church for over 10 years. These guys have the experience to help you take your storytelling to the next level.Adam got his start in the storytelling world 15 years ago when he took a job with his home church, Church on the Move in Tulsa, OK, where he still serves today. His gifts: finding stories and interviewing. “Why would we spend so much time researching gear, lugging it to set and lighting it just right and NOT do our due diligence to find the right story and prepare professionally for the interview?!” His passion for storytelling has led him to travel the country, helping churches tell their own stories of life change. Through #TheStoryGuide, Adam will teach you how to find the stories in your church and conduct an interview that will move your story lead emotionally.Gary’s been working for the local church since he was a teenager. He’s a graphic designer turned motion graphic artist turned cinematographer. In 2007, his love for hearing people’s stories of life change propelled him toward learning / figuring out the best way to capture interviews through the lens. While most dp’s are continually after the latest and greatest gear, Gary’s goal is simple: “Make the interviewee the focus.” Gary’s run the gauntlet of working on stories with extravagant budgets to being part of a church plant (Generations Church) in Denver, CO. “No lights? No problem. We can capture a great looking story with just a little problem solving and creative know-how.” Through #TheStoryGuide, Gary will teach you how to scout not “just” a location, but the RIGHT location, how to light your interview, choose your shot, and take you step by step through his “finishing touches”.Chris’s dive into storytelling began like so many church-goers: with youth group dramas. It was there he fell in love with connecting with audiences through the art of telling stories. “A story is about the external evidence of an internal change. It’s that internal change that can reach a person emotionally.” Since those days, Chris has produced hundreds of stories for the both the local church and organizations around the country. Through #TheStoryGuide, Chris will teach you how to take all the elements from your subject’s story and break it all down into one, single, linear storyline that’ll connect with your audience in a way you’ve never experienced before.
