Understanding performance measurement and its impact to the business bottom line and internal functions efficiencies

What you'll learn

Define what are Performance Indicators and Key Performance Indicators are

Identify how process and function measurements drive KPI outcomes

Create useful and meaningful KPIs based on business needs

Complete the assessments designed to challenge your understanding of the real meaning of KPIs

Requirements

To complete this course, an understanding of performance measurement is recommended

Description

KPIs (or Key Performance Indicators) have been around since the 1980s. They are considered by most as the evolutionary or progressive step of industrial engineering. The wise men often stated, "If you don't measure it, you can't fix it'. (Deming, Taylor, tec. Many have reworded these words, yet the underpinning notion remains. Some will apply a band aid solution, only to have to go back and find an alternative. The metrics are created from measured processes and it is these that form the elements or basis of KPIs. In this course we start from the basics, We learn how to measure processes to understand the excessive delays and excessive transports. We look at the engagement of 'tech' within the process to understand capabilities and limitations. It is through understanding the process construct that we begin to formulate the KPIs.By understanding the elements of the KPI, students will realise how to apply root cause techniques to identify the root cause for variances and implement actions to fix anomalies. The course has challenging and interesting testing confirmations that are designed to make you think outside the box.In addition to the course material, students will have free limited time access to a blue chip KPI software that they will use for the course learning outcomes. This course has been created to make students think and look for alternatives.
