About the program: Gymnastics is a great sport for young children and can provide them with a wide variety of benefits. In this comprehensive program, coach Amy Eggleston teaches essential techniques for pre-school through level two gymnasts. The topics are presented in a fun and engaging way to keep young children interested and motivated. The children are encouraged to develop their basic skills in an encouraging environment. Among the topics covered are: warm ups, how to fall, skill progressions and drills for tumbling, balance beam, bars and vault. These skills are incorporated into two fun obstacle courses to build confidence and correct techniques, as well as improve strength and coordination. The gymnastic activities such as these help to develop cognitive skills and sportsmanship, develop healthy and strong bones by using weight-bearing activities which build bone density, improve flexibility, prevent diseases such as obesity and heart disease.
