A self-paced introduction to art research, mixed media, drawing and painting for your own personal art projects.
What you'll learn
Find and document sources and points of inspiration through primary and secondary research.
Build a bank of personal references, i.e, themes, colour palettes, textures and multimedia elements.
Expand your perception of art by exploring creativity in the context of world-building.
Review your sketchbook work to make connections between everything you have learned and unite your experiments with your research.
Requirements
No experience needed. Just be open-minded and willing to learn something new.
A means of taking and printing photos is useful, though not essential as the point is to use what you have access to and be creative with what you have.
Description
This course is designed to teach you a variety of techniques and approaches to creative art-working. Whether you consider yourself to be a beginner or a seasoned professional, you will learn an unorthodox approach to gathering references and creating meaningful responses which can then be further-developed as your project progresses. You will be introduced to colour theory and some of the uses for different colour palettes, tones and textures in your work, as well as how media such as acrylic paint, oil pastels and collage techniques can be used to develop your work. This course also includes demonstrations on how primary and secondary research can be applied in different formats to bolster your development work. You will be encouraged to keep a sketchbook- and even shown how to make your very own for your project- as well as how to reflect on and analyse your work in order to anchor your experiments into a cohesive theme. By the end of the course, you will have a strong foundation of basic knowledge that you can use as a springboard for even more evolved concepts and creations. There is much more to learn, and this curriculum has been created to introduce (or re-introduce) you to an ocean of creativity one drop at a time, so have a look at the course previews and sign up now to begin your journey.
