I am a Design Automation Expert by profession and a Mechanical Design Engineer by heart.It was more than a decade ago, I began working with a SolidWorks design automation company. When I got first introduced to this subject, I am more than surprised to see they are automating most of the stuff that I use to do as a design engineer earlier. This is when I learned an important lesson about design engineering- Routine tasks are more prone to be taken over by software programs faster than anything else, e.g. CAD tasks. However, I fell in love with automation at that time itself when I saw real change start happening in design engineers' workplaces.
