Description

This is a course about Ice, Ice Art and Art Therapy in Iceland. The idea for the course arose when there was a post in Reddit saying that art therapy did not seem to be very popular in Iceland. The post was 2011 and I wondered if things had changed. Luckily one of my co-Instructors was going to Iceland on tour and he was able to send me back some information. That information – the films, the sights – plus my own research form the core of this course. Add to that beautiful scenery and original art therapy exercises and you have a course that will show you things that you’ve probably not seen before, give you art therapy exercises you may never have tried and introduce you to , well, art therapy in Iceland, art therapy with ice. There is but one art therapist in Iceland : Unnur Ottarsdottir so we spend some time looking at her work on children with learning difficulties. Unnur makes a point of challenging the ideas of some of her predecessors. All very interesting! We look at:Icelandic lava artIce cube paintingArt with IceShading an ice cubeIce sculptureIce cube discussionYou will see films, made by my co-instructor currently touring Iceland - and you will see these films as part of art therapy exercises. This is an unusual course. An original course with exercises and sonnets written especially for these lectures.Be enthralled.
