Infarction and Post Infarction e-chart - Quick reference guide
An acute myocardial infarction is a clinical syndrome produced by the lack of arterial oxygen (ischemia) in the muscle tissue of the heart, in such a prolonged or severe way as to produce tissular necrosis (death of the tissue). Ischemia is usually caused by the sudden occlusion of one or more branches of the coronary arteries, or by the incapacity of coronary irrigation to adapt to the need for oxygen as the function of the heart increases during exercise or stress.
