Imperial Measures: Converting between Metric and Imperial Measurements

For children to really succeed in the KS2 SATs, they need confidence in their own ability and they need to be able to talk about their work with adults. Many adults are a little nervous about teaching their children 'the wrong way' in maths because they have heard that the subject is taught differently today.
The work progresses in gentle steps and their is lots of opportunity to practice and to see in detail how the answers to questions have been worked out.
In this book we look at imperial measures of length, mass and capacity. At KS2 we don't need to carry out detailed calculations in imperial measurements, but we do need to be able to make sensible conversions between metric and imperial measures. So, we need to know, for example, how many kilometres is the equivalent to 35 miles. Or perhaps, how many grams are in a 5 ounce bag of sweets.
This book covers all the conversions you will need, with lots of practice and worked examples to help you. We also look at how to draw and read a conversion graph so that you can figure out conversions really quickly.
