Calculation of Areas with Definite Integrals

The area calculation is an important geometric application of the Definite Integrals. The fundamental basis for these procedures is the use of two-dimensional differential elements and the correct graphing of functions, such as straight lines, conic and parametric curves.

The examples presented here will allow the student to train in the determination of areas bounded by and intersecting curves, in Cartesian and Polar coordinates; leaving the scenario prepared for the calculation of volumes and surfaces, which will be dealt with in future installments.
