Cardiovascular diseases are pathologies that affect the circulatory system, both in terms of blood vessels and the heart. These diseases are essentially due to atherosclerosis, a systemic phenomenon that begins early in life and progresses silently for years, and which is usually already advanced when the first clinical manifestations appear (Palinski, 2002).
