Description
13 Lessons take you from Aleph to Tav (A to Z). Each lesson is roughly 20 minutes. After that, I take you through three Biblical passages for practice. Do you want to learn to read Biblical or Modern Hebrew? The first step is learning the how to pronounce the letters. Hebrew has 22 letters, of which 5 have two forms. This course teaches you just two letters per lesson over a series of 13 lessons. I have taught this course one-on-one for many years, and now I made a video version of the course. You get the PDF file to download and print if you desire to study or review off-line. Idea for: 1) Jews or Christians who want to learn Hebrew from the very beginning 2) Bar Mitzvah Students 3) College students taking a Hebrew college course where they expect you to know the entire alphabet the first weekIn the videos, after a new letter or concept is taught, then you are given time to practice a line of Hebrew, then that line is read to you, so you can check yourself. You only learn if you try to do it on your own first. The first lesson is so easy, only two letters and one of them is silent. Then lesson two adds two more lessons, and so on. The vowel sounds are introduced in the first 3 lessons. After that, you learn just two more consonants. Be sure and TRY Lesson 1 (the letters ALEF and BET) in the FREE PREVIEW! NOTE: This course only teaches pronunciation, so there is no vocabulary to learn. We will save that for a future course, once you can pronounce the letters. Most courses don't have the number of drills or practices that this course has. We will spend about 20 to 30 minutes together on each pair of letters, making sure that you master them. After learning all the letters, the course shows three Biblical passages from the traditional "Shema" (Hear Oh Israel, the Lord Your God, The Lord is One). We also look at Genesis 22, Genesis 1, and show online resources to help you with your future studies. Expert teacher, taught by Neal Walters, Master of Arts in Jewish Studies from Hebrew College (Boston) in 2013, and student of Web Yeshiva. The course includes a lesson on how Hebrew is used in Judaism, including mezuzot, tefillin (phylacteries) and Torah scrolls.
