Radio Engineering for Wireless Communication and Sensor Applications

Opening chapters outline the fundamentals of electromagnetic theory needed for the analysis of waveguides, antennas, and other wireless devices; review the basic equations and electrical properties of transmission lines; and describe different methods of impedance matching. The authors (Helsinki University of Technology) then characterize passive devices based on sections of transmission lines or waveguides, frequency-selective devices, circuits based on semiconductor devices, and the different types of antennas. The final chapter overviews applications of radio engineering in broadcasting, radio link systems, wireless area networks, radio navigation, radar, remote sensing, and radio astronomy.
