The book is a humorous murder mystery, and while there are ghosts it's not really a paranormal story. The heroine, Gianna, lives in an apartment over her family's deli in New York. Ever since she had a near-death experience as a child, she has been able to see the ghosts of newly-dead persons before they are ready to enter the afterlife… through the deli's freezer in the basement. But until they feel ready to move on, this couple of friendly ghosts are Gianna's roommates. Future books in the series will presumably have new ghosts.
The book's cover image is misleading; that bedsheet ghost makes the book look like a children's story, which it is not. The title isn't very good; the blueberry peach jam plays a very small role. I think a better title would have been something like "Her Friends From the Freezer" or "Tales From the Deli: Hold the Murder."
There is no sex other than a couple of brief not-too-graphic descriptions of oral sex, and mentions of a blow-up doll. It has no bad language except for a few Italian insults. She refers to her ex-boyfriend as "Douche Nozzle" but that stops early on. There is a little violence when Gina fights with a baddie, but nothing graphic or gory. This is not a horror story despite the presence of two friendly ghosts. This is the first in a series but is a stand-alone story with no big cliffhanger, although the last page leaves us with a hint about a ghost in the next story. It was a very enjoyable read!
