This is an excellent psychological/horror thriller… It kept me on edge all the way to very disturbing end..All you keep seeing is the powerful swing of a long sharp, shiny object out of the dark leaving behind very gorey, graphic bloodbath…You do not see the killers face ever and your left wondering like the characters in this small town is this a monster or human… All this book needed was an eerie background score because it was like watching a movie… Perfect detailed depiction of a small, tourist town that's not equiped to handle these types of murders, circulating rumors, and where everybody knows each others business…

Detective Liam Dempsey has know idea what he is about to get himself into when he arrives in Tallston, Minnesota..His brother Allen Dempsey and sister-in-law Suzie have just been murdered in a possible home invasion as the BCA agents assigned to the case see it… Liam's instincts kick in and he knows this is overkill and nothing was robbed… So, is this a conspiracy that the town is trying to cover up so "Colton Industry" that is taking over the land on the other side of the "Mississippi River" can continue on time as planned with… Or is this something much deeper that lies on the other side of that "River Is Dark"…

Becareful and stay in the light for at night something in the shadows is watching and waiting…
