Emptiness Appraised: A Critical Study of Nagarjuna's Philosophy By David F. Burton
2002 | 248 Pages | ISBN: 8120818148 | PDF | 73 MB

The book explains and assesses Nagarjuna's philosophy of emptiness (Sunyata). This book argues that though Nagarjuna advocates the middle way between nibilism and eternalism, his philosophy of emptiness nevertheless entails nihilism. Burton also refutes the interpretation tht Nagarjuna is sceptic and examines Nagarjuna's notion of non-conceptual knowledge of reality. In addition, Nagarjuna's critiques of the Nyaya theory of knowledge (pramana) are critically scrutinised.
