is one of those rare comic books that, despite expectations it's going to be another brainless big event Thor title designed to drum up sales for the upcoming Thor live action motion picture, managed to surprise everyone by starting out to be great and, in the words of comicbookresources, "just keeps getting better and better" with each succeeding issue. It's basically a re-imagining of the Norse God of Thunder told in a simple, straightforward and free-of-continuity streamlined manner, yet somehow keeping things grounded with spot-on and thoughtful character development by a creative team that's just perfect for a comic book like this. The story lines and artwork are fun, great and dynamic, and, by current issue #6, one genuinely sweet romantic comic book (for non-stop action graphic violence nothing can top the Garth Ennis ). For me this is the best among the current Thor titles (and many who have followed it agree with me); yet, because of flagging sales, it will be cancelled after issue #8 this January 2011. Which is truly a pity. Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada has said that the decision to cancel was not his. Could it have been a high-level Disney executive (Disney owns Marvel) who doesn't give a damn about soul in a comic book but only sees sales figures? If so, then Walt Disney is probably turning over in his grave right now. I say this comic book title will someday be a classic. As a matter of fact it is right now.
He’s banished, he’s mad, and he wants to FIGHT. ROGER LANGRIDGE (Muppet Show, Eisner and Harvey Award nominee) and CHRIS SAMNEE (SIEGE: EMBEDDED, The Mighty) re-imagine the God of Thunder in THOR THE MIGHTY AVENGER! THRILL as he battles robots the size of cities! GASP as he tames the mightiest sea creatures! SWOON as he rescues damsels from the vilest villains! It’s Thor as you’ve NEVER seen him, hammering his way into your hands TWICE this month! -- Eisner-nominee ROGER LANGRIDGE & CHRIS SAMNEE continue their epic reimagining of the God of Thunder! As Thor uncovers the mystery of why he was thrown from Asgard, his efforts are somewhat sidetracked by the awesome engine of destruction known as FIN FANG FOOM!!!!!!!! --
