It is plotted by Robin Furth, scripted by Peter David, and illustrated by Jae Lee and Richard Isanove. King serves as Creative and Executive Director of the project. is a one-issue comic book, which serves as a prequel and spin-off of both Stephen King's novels and as a spin-off story to Marvel's three previous comic book limited-series. Unlike previous Dark Tower comic book series, which follow Roland Deschain and his , follows the life and motives of The Dark Tower villain Marten Broadcloak. The comic was previously solicited for a March 11, 2009 release date but has since been pushed back and released April 15, 2009.
