DC Universe 1994 Annuals - Elseworlds (Complete)

In the editors of DC Comics decided to publish all issues of their then ongoing titles as stories, 23 issues in all. As those who follow comics all know (here I'll quote Wikipedia), " is the publication imprint of DC Comics that takes place outside the company's canon. According to its tagline: 'In Elseworlds, heroes are taken from their usual settings and put into strange times and places — some that have existed, and others that can't, couldn't or shouldn't exist. The result is stories that make characters who are as familiar as yesterday seem as fresh as tomorrow.' Unlike its Marvel Comics counterpart , which bases its stories on a single point of divergence from the regular continuity, most Elseworlds stories instead take place in entirely self-contained continuities whose only connection to the canon DC continuity are the presence of familiar DC characters." I'm not aware of the reason(s) behind such editorial resolutions but we who delight in the milieu of "the world less traveled" are much more thankful, and rewarded, for it. Just for the record, in 1996 DC published the special that reprinted the stories "Leatherwing", "Legacy", "Crucible of Freedom" and "Citizen Wayne" from the 1994 Annuals collection. This 1994 DC Universe Annual Elseworlds Collection consist of the following titles, with their respective short descriptions (), listed alphabetically: 1. - "Legacy" - A Kryptonian named Gar-El flees Krypton and conquers 18th century Earth. Two hundred years later, his descendant Kal fights against his rule. Written by John Byrne. "Doomsday for the Fifth Dimenson" is a short story which was published alongside "Legacy." Written by Dennis Janke and Louise Simonson, and illustrated by Janke, the story shows baby Kal-El's rocketship landing in the fifth dimension, and having grown to adult size, begins unintentionally wreaking havoc on its denizens. 2. - "The Super Seven Part I: The Longest Night" - Long after Earth has been conquered by aliens, only seven superheroes remain. 3. - "Black Masterpiece" - Leonardo da Vinci's apprentice uses his master's hang-glider design to fight crime. 4. - "Citizen Wayne" - Batman as Citizen Kane. 5. - "The Tyrant" - In a totalitarian Gotham, Batman prevents crime by suppressing all dissent. Anarky leads the resistance. 6. - "The Last Man" - Talia al Ghul as a 14th century werecat fighting Crusaders. 7. - "Journey's End" - Deathstroke survives into a post-apocalyptic world. 8. - "Leatherwing" - Batman translated into a traditional tale of piracy on the high seas. 9. - "The Barry Allen Story" - A crippled Wally West sells Barry Allen's story to a film studio. 10. - "Ring of Evil" - Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner as Nazis; John Stewart leads the resistance. 11. - "The Once and Future League" - A century after the League was destroyed by Felix Faust, a new version is formed. 12. - "No Rules to Follow" - On an alternate Earth where heroes are shunned and feared, ten heroes (Superman, Batman, the Shark, Fire, the Flash, Dr. Light, Polaris, Power Girl, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle) form together as the Justice League. 13. - "The Man From L.E.G.I.O.N. 007" - Lobo as a James Bond parody and other spoofs: "L.E.G.I.O.N. Archives", "L.E.G.I.O.N. 90210", "LEGION by Gaslight", "WomanMan with Girl the Boy Wonder", "Elseworlds Rejects". 14. - "Castles in the Air" - The Legion as a futuristic version of the Knights of the Round Table. 15. - "The Long Road Home" - The Legion in The Wizard of Oz. 16. - "A Fistful of Bastiches" - Assorted Western tales. 17. - "Facets" - Heroic fantasy version of the battle against Trigon. 18. - "The Narrow Path" - In feudal Japan, the apprentice of the Bat Ninja learns his true destiny. 19. - "Crucible of Freedom" - John Henry Irons as a plantation slave who fights for his family's freedom before the American Civil War. 20. - "The Super Seven Part II: The Men of Steel" - Continuing the story from Adventures of Superman Annual #6. 21. - "The Feral Man of Steel" - In 19th century India, Kal-El is raised by wolves. Loosely based on Rudyard Kipling's Mowgli stories, with added elements of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan novels. 22. - "Unforgiven" - Jor-El convinces the Science Council to relocate selected Kryptonians to Earth. Twenty years later, his son must help humans and Kryptonians live in harmony. 23. - "Into the Light" - A space opera version of the battle against Lord Chaos. Since prior to my acquisition of the complete set I had only a smattering of these titles, I suppose most are also in the same situation/predicament; hence I decided to post them as individual comic book files rather than packed as single-download RAR archives.
