American Vampire #8 (Ongoing)

It is becoming increasingly clear that in this second story arc of this series we are witnessing the foundation being laid for what is destined to be a classic. Writer Scott Snyder is serving notice that he is the brilliant star hovering over the dark and chilling world he and Stephen King have created, and he continues to deliver sustained, expertly crafted set pieces of consistently high quality. Artist Rafael Albuquerque, with his pencilwork and frightening imagery is the perfect match for Snyder and together they have taken the vampire genre as it has been defined by (if you really think about it) ridiculous forays into romance of recent years and refocused it into something transcendent.
