American Vampire #1-6 (Ongoing, Update)
5 CBZ's 1 CBR | Vertigo (DC) | Release Dates Mar 17 - Sep 9 2010 | 139 MB Total

's first 5-issue arc follows two stories: one written by Scott Snyder and one written by the master of horror himself, Stephen King, both with art by future superstar Rafael Albuquerque. Snyder's tale follows Pearl, a young woman living in 1920s Los Angeles, who is brutally turned into a vampire and sets out on a path of righteous revenge against the European monsters who tortured and abused her. And in King's story set in the days of America's Wild West, readers learn the origin of Skinner Sweet, the original American vampire – a stronger, faster creature than any vampire ever seen before. Stephen King it seems will no longer be around for the succeeding issues, with the series gaining popular acclaim and following, and firmly entrenched in the public mind as more than capably handled by Scott Snyder. Issue #6 departs from the dual-story issues that comprised the initial arc, the title shifts locations, the writer (Snyder) shifts characters, and the artist shifts his style. Set in Nevada in 1935, as The Great Depression has settled onto the United States, this issue swings over to Las Vegas. Set during the time that the Hoover Dam was being built, Snyder brings in some new characters and returns a few others. Another great ongoing from Vertigo that has Entertainment Weekly gushing, "At a time when vampire stories engulf pop culture, this one's actually fresh and original." All high-quality Minutemen scans.
Witness the birth of a brand new species of vampire in this new ongoing series that begins with five extra-sized issues featuring back-to-back stories by exciting new writer Scott Snyder and the master of horror himself, Stephen King! When notorious outlaw Skinner Sweet is attacked by an old enemy (who happens to be a member of the undead), the first American vampire is born... a vampire powered by the sun, stronger, fiercer, and meaner than anything that came before. -- It's Las Vegas circa 1935, and Skinner Sweet and our gal Pearl are about to learn the hard way that the bloodsuckers in Hollywood were nothing compared to what awaits them in Sin City. In just a few short years, young police Chief Cash McCogan has watched his native city of Las Vegas go from cow-town to wild, glittering boom-town. And when the bodies of prominent businessmen start showing up drained of blood, Chief McCogan finds himself facing a threat much darker and deadlier than anything he could have imagined...and the only sure bet in town is that Skinner and Pearl are right in the thick of it! So belly up to the bar and lay your chips on the table, because "Devil in the Sand," the next cycle of AMERICAN VAMPIRE, begins now! --
