    Supervisione di Gianfranco Contini. Nell’estate del 1940, un ragazzo di undici anni ascoltò il padre che leggeva e spiegava ai fratelli maggiori l’Inferno di Dante; le due estati seguenti toccò a Purgatorio e Paradiso. Proprio quel ragazzo, che all’epoca capiva meglio il concerto che facevano le cicale che non le terzine del poeta, mezzo secolo più tardi avrebbe letto e spiegato Dante ai microfoni della radio e in più di cinquecento letture pubbliche. Vittorio Sermonti ha consentito a “qualunque italiano dotato di cultura media, intelligenza e un po’ di passione di ripercorrere il più gran libro scritto in italiano senza interrompere continuamente l’avventura per approvvigionarsi di notizie e delucidazioni.” Così è nato questo “racconto-commento” della Divina Commedia. Una prosa insieme raffinata e colloquiale, accurata e ironica; letto con l’impudenza della prima volta, col batticuore dell’ultima, dal principio.
