As the spiders begin to attack livestock and humans, panic spreads through the town. The local mayor, concerned about the upcoming county fair, is initially reluctant to take drastic action. Eventually, the spiders overwhelm the area, cutting off the town from the outside world. A small group of survivors, including Hansen and Ashley, barricade themselves in a remote lodge. The film culminates in a bleak, shocking ending where the survivors discover the entire town (and implicitly the world) is encased in spider silk cocoons, with no sign of rescue.
