National Instruments (NI), has announced the release of LabVIEW 2018 Sound and Vibration Analysis VIs. Use the Sound and Vibration VIs to perform sound and vibration measurements. The Sound and Vibration VIs perform the selected analysis and allow you to view the results with the appropriate engineering units in standard displays such as magnitude/phase, real/imaginary part, and decibels on/off.

The Sound and Vibration Toolkit includes the following new features:

- Support for LabVIEW 2018
Support for LabVIEW 2018 does not remove previously installed support for LabVIEW 2017 and earlier.
- Test Signal Synchronization Pulse
Synchronization pulse can be used to time-synchronize multiple input channels with output channel.
- New Test Signal Properties
. Synchronization Pulse>>Enable Leading
. Synchronization Pulse>>Enable Trailing
. Synchronization Pulse>>Pulse Duration
. Synchronization Pulse>>Pulse Level
. Synchronization Pulse>>Pulse Type
. Synchronization Pulse>>Pulse Waveform
. Total Samples
. Remaining Samples
. Continuous Sweep>>Frequency Waveform
. Continuous Sweep>>Phase Waveform
New Examples
- Calibration examples to perform end-to-end channel calibration with dynamic sensors
- Signal generation examples to configure and generate test signals for stimulus-response tests

About NI Sound and Vibration Toolkit. The NI Sound and Vibration Toolkit provides comprehensive configuration, measurement-analysis, and visualization tools for audio, noise-vibration-harshness (NVH), and machine condition monitoring (MCM) applications. Based on an open-analysis capability and a flexible measurement library, the NI Sound and Vibration Toolkit presents a unique, software-based measurement approach to creating customized applications.

About NI LabView. LabVIEW (Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench) is a graphical programming language that uses icons instead of lines of text to create applications. In contrast to text-based programming languages that use instructions to determine the order of program execution, LabVIEW uses dataflow programming. In data flow programming, the flow of data through the nodes on the block diagram determines the execution order of the VIs and functions. VIs, or virtual instruments, are LabVIEW programs that imitate physical instruments.

In LabVIEW, you build a user interface by using a set of tools and objects. The user interface is known as the front panel. After you build the front panel, you add code using graphical representations of functions to control the front panel objects. You add this graphical code, also known as G code or block diagram code, to the block diagram. The block diagram somewhat resembles a flowchart. The block diagram, front panel, and graphical representations of code compose a VI.
