Jasmine's first John Lee Hooker release 'Blues In Transition 1955-1959' concentrated on the recordings he made for his core audience and the emerging college folk scene which helped to propel him to international fame. This second excursion into the iconic bluesman's prolific career focuses on his material from late 1948 to 1954. By early 1949 'Boogie Chillen' was #1 on Billboard's R&B chart and was reputed to have sold over a million copies. It is these numerous boogie recordings that are collected on disc one of this unique package. Most of these discs are solo but several do feature other musicians and special note should be made of the contributions made to several tracks by these other musicians. Eddie Burns plays Harmonica on "Miss Eloise" and Eddie Kirkland provides blistering guitar work to "Four Women In My Life", "How Can You Do It" and "Leave My Wife Alone". The second CD collects together many of his notable blues ballads and mid-tempo songs again on one full length CD. This CD is a must for blues fans and the uninitiated alike. The wonderfully gifted Dorothy Donegan was a classically trained jazz pianist who frequently switched between boogie-woogie, bop, stride, swing and classical music, at times in the same chorus. Here Jasmine feature four of her albums: 'At The Embers', 'Dorothy Donegan Live', 'Donnybrook With Donegan' and 'It Happened One Night'. Features her individualistic versions of classics like: "Over The Rainbow", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "April In Paris" and many more. T-Bone Walker was one of the 20th Century's most influential musicians. His guitar work inspired B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Little Milton, Freddie King and pretty much any electric blues guitarist who followed in his pioneering wake. A 52 track extravaganza containing the A & B side of every 78 and 45 he released between 1950 and 1955. T-Bone stage performances were the stuff of legend and amongst his antics was the ability to play the guitar with his teeth and behind his head, accomplishments that resonated through the years to profoundly impress a young guitarist by the name of Jimi Hendrix.
