Two CD collection from the French vocalist. Gall arrived on the music scene in the early '60s and achieved her first major success in 1965. In the decades that followed, her musical career rose to new heights, especially her collaborations with husband (and songwriter) Michel Berger.

"Voyage", to Pierre Vassiliu, was not only the title of an album of his, but also a philosophy of life. Travels were not for vacation or rest. They were synonyms of meetings, new music and sometimes, simply, life. These experiences around the world nourished his work, and his career allowed him to set foot on every continent. But his most beautiful travels took place in recording studios.

Ainsi Soit Je… (a play on ainsi soit-il, which can mean either "so be it" or "amen") is the second album by Mylène Farmer, released in April 1988. It contains the hit singles "Sans contrefaçon", "Pourvu qu'elles soient douces" and "Sans logique". Generally well-received by critics, it was very successful and remains to date the second best-selling album of the singer. In France, the album debuted at number 8 in April 1988. Thanks to the successful single "Pourvu qu'elles soient douces" (number-one hit in December 1988), the album reached number one for two weeks in December 1988. The album managed to stay for eleven months in the top ten and about one year on the chart. The album was certified Diamond on 14 November 1989.

Magdalena Kožená is a remarkable singer. Her voice is a somewhat light mezzo with many colors, and she can shade it to a whisper or impress with a fortissimo high B-flat. Her range is absolutely even from top to bottom and she never switches gears; similarly she refuses to push the voice at either end. Her reading of Eboli's "Veil Song" from Verdi's Don Carlos is seductive and insinuating, with just the right Spanish flavor in the low-register roulades–but they're soft-focused. Perhaps she has no "chest" register, or is afraid to use it?

Quand tout Recommence is the third French and twelfth overall studio album by Australian singer and songwriter Tina Arena, which was released on 6 April 2018, in France. The album title, Quand tout Recommence translates to mean When Everything Restarts in English. Arena has stated that when she records in the French language, she is careful not to record French versions of her English language hits, as the meaning of the lyrics differ between languages. Arena notes that too often the intention of the song gets "lost in translation", therefore she has always chosen to write in both languages.

Polydor Universal Music (Mylène's former record company) is offering a Collection - Intégrale 1986-1996 box set on October 28, 2022. This set contains 16 CDs, 211 tracks and a 48-page booklet. This is a support that follows the album Plus Grandir Best-Of 1986/1996 released on August 20, 2021.

It is the historic tandem Manu Katché/Jean-Yves D'Angelo that English and American big names join for this new event album by Michel Jonasz. A breath of fresh air as well as a return to basics where the artist invites us to sing the blues with high-flying pieces. All roads lead to the blues, and those of Jonasz will find residence across France for an electrifying tour!

Thierry Amiel has finally returned after an absence of 4 years preparing his third album which consists of acoustic versions of songs by Sarah McLachlan, of whom he is a fan. The silken voice, as smooth as honey, is as pure and true as when he made his first appearance on the French Show, "In Search of a New Star". With an incredible range, the singer reaches the highest notes with ease and fills each song with pure emotion.

There hasn’t been a popular dance without an accordion, nor a dance-hall without a waltz, since the end of the Great War. You wonder if the genre was ever “modern” at all, so timeless does it seem… Yet it had to be born at some time, and its parents were a motley crowd indeed! First of all came the people from Auvergne, who began to settle in Paris at the beginning of the 19th century: they brought their “folk” instrument with them, and the “musette” tradition, turning their cafes and restaurants into dance-halls with an accordion band. Later, after 1870, it was the turn of the Italians, who crossed the Alps with an instrument of German origin, which they quickly adopted and began to manufacture themselves: the accordion. Then a third stream from Belgium and the North arrived in Paris to work in the factories, and, later still, the wandering gypsy communities of eastern Europe added their guitars to the sound of the accordion.

The second instalment in the Trés Chic series gathers together many of the legendary icons of 1950 and 60s French music. Featuring Françoise Hardy, Gilbert Bécaud, Charles Aznavour and Sacha Distel alongside a select number of hip American jazz musicians who spent serious time in France and made music there such as Miles Davis and Art Blakey.

From '88, this is a smooth and lovely collection of pop songs that sound better with each hearing. With superb arrangements and musicianship, and Hardy's wonderful vocal interpretation. Though her voice is quite amplified on this CD, she doesn't lose the intimacy of her unique sound. There's a gentleness to her voice that I appreciate more now than I did back in the '60's, in the days of her international fame.

Patricia Kaas' 2002 release Piano Bar is a lovely, seductive collection of romantic mood music, pulled directly from the chanteuse tradition but sounding utterly contemporary. Some credit must go to producer/arranger Michel Legrand, who keeps the polished surface softly glimmering, yet this is merely a stage for Kaas, whose vocals are never flashy, but always alluring. The album consists primarily of mid-20th century songs from such stalwart European composers as Charles Anzavour and Jacques Brel, who were covered frequently during the '60s by European and American singers alike. As such, Piano Bar can feel a bit like a '60s vocal pop album at times in terms of approach and material, but Legrand's synth-heavy arrangements help bring it into the modern era as much as Kaas' unhurried delivery. The end result is a lovely, winning album, another fine recording by a fine vocalist.

This mammoth five-disc set is a wide-ranging overview of Serge Gainsbourg's career as a songwriter, composer, and arranger. It also showcases his ability to make actual singers out of actresses and models – there are a few duets here with Brigitte Bardot, and others. Those who are encountering Gainsbourg for the first time will no doubt be intimidated by this set, it is a lovely package that moves basically in chronological order; but the three-disc De Gainsbourg à Gainsbarre set is more focused and a lot more affordable.
