The sessions for Clark's Iradelphic album were so prolific that they sparked not only that album but also a series of excerpts available online and this EP, which is half new material and half reworked Iradelphic tracks, and is just as intriguing as the other material from this particular era in the producer's career. The title track is the main attraction here: it begins with an elaborately spiraling flute melody that is seamlessly mirrored by a fuzzy synth and joined by busy beats that add intrigue without breaking the track's flow. A close second would be "Secret Slow Show," a gorgeous, vocals-dominated track that recalls the best moments of Clark's Warp labelmates Broadcast and Leila…

Winter in July can be a strange combination. Released in May of 2001, but seeing hype and sales in June and July, Chris Clark's Clarence Park is a frostingly cold glimpse at what winter feels like – even if one listens to it during the dog days of relentless sun. Big reverberated beats transform into a crisp sound experiment, synth washes cut and skate alongside and in between breakbeat scientology, and sound sculpture paints imagery of glacier-like masses floating along in the sea minding their own business. Albeit not sounding especially original, and having an immense amount of pressure to do so, Clark turns in a fine debut of sensitive and cerebrally brash material that sits comfortably alongside some of the better records of 2001.

At over two hours long, Feast/Beast is a thorough reminder of how prolific a remixer Clark was during the 2000s and 2010s. It also reaffirms just how versatile a sound-shaper he is: while there's definitely an aesthetic holding even the wildest moments here together, he never takes exactly the same approach on any two songs. The names represented on Feast/Beast are almost as wide-ranging as the way he refashions tracks for them. Obviously, his remixes for some of the bigger artists are among the standouts, but he's just as creative in his work for lesser-known acts. Not surprisingly, some of the highlights come from his collaborations with fellow Warp artists, whether he's remixing them or vice versa; the Clark tracks remixed by his friends offer yet another perspective on his music…

As with previous Clark albums it is an intricate, boffin-clever, topsy-turvy album. But after two albums of pummelling, energy flash-informed electronica, it seems Clark’s determined not to be pigeonholed as that noisy Warp fella. He said as much recently when explaining that he’s "hunting down that elusive paradox. To create something that didn’t sound like what I’ve done before. But was also unmistakably me."
The obvious new development is the simple, looping guitar that’s present almost throughout. Then there’s the massive arsenal of instruments, from vintage Cold War microphones and harpsichords to modular synths, he employs. But more than anything it’s the mood that’s turned. It’s out with angry, abrasive head-bangers and head-scratchers, and in with warm, soothing, elegiac, sun-dappled tracks…

As signaled by the March 2014 non-album single "Superscope," Chris Clark opted to turn sharply away from the oft-idyllic, sometimes pastoral sound of his 2012 album Iradelphic and its accompanying Fantasm Planes EP. The producer captioned a trailer for this, his seventh Warp album, with "More Berghain than Guggenheim," referencing Berlin's techno nerve center while alluding to his new material's dancefloor appeal. The majority of Clark indeed supplies numerous robust rhythms that are among his most physical and stimulating. At the same time, the producer applies singular touches, from unpredictable changes in course to treated field recordings - including the sound of a chair scraping a factory floor and stomped snow - that help yield the kind of depth and richness that typify so much of his previous output…
