Style: Electronic, Synthpop, Electropop | Label: Les Disques du Crépuscule / Undo Records

Athens based synth maidens Marsheaux are to release a 19 track best of on the prestigious Les Disques Du Crépuscule label. The brand was recently resurrected by renowned journalist James Nice whose own LTM Recordings have reissued a number of Factory Records' back catalogue including Section 25, The Wake and The Railway Children as well as New Order offshoots Revenge and The Other Two. The first album to be released on the revived Les Disques Du Crépuscule was Marnie's debut album 'Crystal World'.

2014 compilation of outstanding tracks by Marsheaux, the elegant Greek Synthpop duo consisting of Marianthi Melitsi and Sophie Sarigiannidou. Both girls handle vocals and are every bit as sophisticated as their Europhone moniker, itself derived from the first syllable of their first names. Marsheaux also pack a mean electronic punch. Marianthi plays Microkorg, Minimoog, Roland SH101, Speak & Math and Yamaha CS01. Sophie plays Microkorg, Korg MS-10, Roland Alpha Juno2, Akai AX80, and Roland CR-78. As well as highlights from all four studio albums released on Undo Records, Odyssey also includes hard to find single 'Ghost', advertising jingle 'Cosmogirl', and 'Full Attack' - a brand new song recorded specially for this Crépuscule project. All tracks are produced by Fotonovela. All songs are written by Marsheaux except their hit cover of Popcorn, the kitsch electronic classic by Gershon Kingsley. 'Odyssey' is released by Les Disques Du Crépuscule on CD in a six panel digipack with booklet in January 2014.

Marsheaux are one of those outfits whose relative lack of mainstream success has always been a mystery. In the decade since the release of their debut album, Ebay Queen, they've produced some of the smartest, stylish synth-pop around; an evocative blend of new wave posturing, atmospheric chords, bubbling appreggios and touchy-feely vocals. For those who've yet to succumb to their charms, this much-deserved career retrospective should be essential listening. Packed with glistening gems (see 'Ghost' and 'Do You Feel?'), moodier moments ('Over & Over') and smoky gems (the rather fine 'Can You Stop Me?'), it's a fitting celebration of their impressive talents.
