The Tawainese extreme metal band Chthonic released their first new album in five years with "Battlefields of Asura". The band was inspired by Black Metal (especially Cradle Of Filth), which they enrich with melodies, choirs and traditional Asian instruments. On the new recordings were u.a. Randy Blythe (Lamb Of God) and singer Denise Ho from Hong Kong. "Battlefields of Asura" is a worthy successor to their previous album Bú-Tik as Chthonic masterfully combines the sounds of old and new into a an excellent symphonic/melodic death metal album. The album highlights the band’s East Asian folk influences with strong melodies that add character, emotion, and personality. Fans of the band, both new and old, should find enjoyment with this album as it may be their best album yet. SUPER !!! BEST ALBUM !!!
