Back in the '70s, both Pat Travers and Carmine Appice were responsible for laying down the boogie – Travers as a leader of the Pat Travers Band, and Appice as a member of Cactus and Beck Bogert & Appice. Fast forward three decades later, and the duo has decided to combine their talents (along with session pro bassist T.M. Stevens), as Travers & Appice. Touring in support of a debut album with the title of It Takes a Lot of Balls, it shouldn't have come as a surprise that their shows were rift with testosterone-heavy rock (but with a bluesy feel). Less than a year after the arrival of their debut comes a concert set, 2005's Live at the House of Blues. With Travers & Appice splitting the vocal duties, the group harks back to the days when power trios ruled the earth.

King Crimson reborn yet again – the then-newly configured band makes its debut with a violin (courtesy of David Cross) sharing center stage with Robert Fripp's guitars and his Mellotron, which is pushed into the background. The music is the most experimental of Fripp's career up to this time – though some of it actually dated (in embryonic form) back to the tail-end of the Boz Burrell-Ian Wallace-Mel Collins lineup. And John Wetton was the group's strongest singer/bassist since Greg Lake's departure three years earlier. What's more, this lineup quickly established itself as a powerful performing unit, working in a more purely experimental, less jazz-oriented vein than its immediate predecessor.

Packed! is the fifth studio album by rock group Pretenders, released in 1990. Besides band leader Chrissie Hynde, no other person is pictured anywhere within the album package. At the time the album was recorded, the only other remaining official member from the band's previous album was drummer Blair Cunningham, who plays on all tracks, though he is not credited as part of the band. As all other musicians appearing on the album are session musicians, some observers have characterized the album as a Hynde solo recording using the Pretenders name to satisfy contractual obligations.
