To celebrate father’s day this month, we’re dedicating this issue to all things male. On the cover, we’re proud to present Muhammad Arif Wibowo, a loving father and the recently appointed President Director and CEO of Garuda Indonesia, the national flag carrier of Indonesia. A dedicated hard-worker, his career started on the lowest rung of the ladder as a mechanical engineer in the airline's maintenance shop. Things have changed since then both for Wibowo and the airline, which booked a handsome profit of US $77.9 million in 2015 compared with a US$ 368.9 million loss in 2014.
We also turn our attention towards the country’s booming e-commerce and technology sectors, honouring the young innovators who have helped nudge Indonesia’s society and economy into the digital age. Exclusive interviews and features include chats with seven young “technopreneurs”, including the founders of Biznet, Bukalapak, Kaskus, BrideStory, Qerja, OLX, and Berrybenka. These seven young go-getters share their success stories with us and are sure to inspire any young readers to put their own innovative ideas into practice.
In our Style section, we also feature Riki Kono Basmeleh, a young and enterprising F&B entrepreneur from Surabaya, who models for our retro fashion spread. You can find out more about him on www.indonesiatatler.com. Meanwhile, we delve elbow-deep into dapper suits and how tailored threads are today’s hot trend for gents.
Last but by no means least, check out our Life section in which we feature one of the hippest dining places in town, Monty’s, which is located in Senopati, and chat with two of its male co-founders. So what are you waiting for? Call your dad and celebrate this year’s Father’s Day, dressed to impress, with your loved ones at Monty’s!
