Apart from the direction, plot, and the acting, it is the cinematography that stood out in season 2 of 24, the Hindi remake of the popular American TV series. In our cover story this issue, Jitan Harmeet Singh, the cinematographer of 24, reveals why he believes that Indian TV sitcoms are finally ready to take a cinematic approach to cinematography. Singh also believes that this can be made possible by choosing the right cameras. In our Features column this issue, we highlight how the focus on newsroom cameras has gradually shifted from presenting the news cleanly, to garnering viewership. We also ask people from the broadcasting, production, film, and the media domains how demonetisation has affected them. Most feel that despite a short-term decline in business, things are unlikely to be affected by the move in the long run. We also speak to Wesley Dodd, CEO of UK-based Celebro Television Studios that has studios in London and Muscow. He tells us why his company was an early adopter of LED lighting equipment and how this move saved them a lot of money in energy costs. Dodd also points out that while the capex cost involved in investing an LED system is relatively higher than traditional solutions, the opex is lower thanks to its electrical efficiency.
