This is the time to bid adieu to 2017 and ring in the New Year 2018 that will bring along new opportunities, new trends, and of course, new apps. But before that let’s thank 2017 for technological advances in fields like augmented reality, artificial intelligence and digital payment solutions, to name a few. According to the Apple App Store editorial team, the trends of 2017 were Augmented Reality, Video-on-Demand apps, Hyper-Casual games, and Convenience apps (like Swiggy, Urbanclap, BigBasket and BookMyShow).
Google Play Store also announced the Best of 2017 apps and games across categories like most entertaining, most innovative, best social apps, and best for kids, for example. According to Google Play Store, AI-driven Socratic, which helps children in school homework, is the Best App of 2017, and CATS: Crash Arena Turbo Stars is the Best Game of 2017 for its spellbinding gameplay, glossy graphics, and an impressively intuitive interface. Have a look at our ‘Best of 2017’ and ‘Trends of the Year 2017’ section to know about all the apps that have been recognized and awarded by the Google Play Store and Apple App Store respectively.
This month our Cover Story is about the apps that focus on children’s emotional wellbeing, helping them understand their emotions and how to cope with them. For instance, apps like Stop, Breathe & Think Kids, Mind Yeti, and Breathe, Think, Do with Sesame focus on mindfulness training of children. Mindfulness training encourages self-regulation and self-control by giving children the calmness and emotional stability needed to reflect on a situation before reacting to it.
