Diverse brass music: 50 years of Thomas Gansch? Of course there are a lot of roses for this! At this round birthday party, not just a cake is cut and "Good luck and a lot of blessings" is sounded, here the trumpets sound until the last valve train is hot!

Together they call themselves Gansch & Roses. If you think that sounds like roses and velvet gloves, you've cut yourself a lot, because brass music can do everything here: dance, groove, sing, flirt, scold, laugh and cry – and preferably all in one piece. So this concert will be a wild ride through the world of weird sounds, beautiful melodies and surprising twists, with a lot of heart, a good portion of nonsense and the proof that brass music is neither old-fashioned nor good, but lively, cheeky and unrestrainedly good.

"If someone starts with his first album under his own name, the musical business card should be remembered among the mass of artists. The young trumpeter Thomas Gansch has put his premiere in the hands of the small and fine Quinton label, whose visual appearance alone promises the highest quality. But as young as the artist is in years, "Gansch & Roses" is so experienced and compositionally mature that one can report an extraordinary result. His past in the Vienna Art Orchestra and Concert Orchestra Vienna has had an audible orchestral influence on Gansch, his Mnozil-brass roots further back provided the (wind) musical part. However, this only makes parts of the composition recipe visible. The nonet with other Art orchestras such as Harry Sokal, Herwig Gradischnig, Thorsten Benkenstein and Ed Partyka offers the fullness of a big band and the lightness of a small band. In the trio (with saxophonist Florian Bramböck and bassist Georg Breinschmid) there are three takes to offer. If you were to listen to some takes in a blindfold test, you could definitely tap on Charlie Haden's Liberation Music Orchestra, the wit and melodiousness of the Lounge Lizards, the Breuker collective or Carla Bleys also come to mind. This compositional humor can also be seen in the titles such as the kick-and-rush number "Tom & Jerry" or the "flea circus" swinging in front of you.
