Description

The gut microbes are microorganism thriving in our digestive tract and are responsible for physiological functions of metabolism, digestion and immune response against pathogens. A balance number of gut microbes ensure a healthy symbiotic relationship between the gut microbiota and the host. However, when this homeostasis condition is disrupted due to a variety of factors, the emergence of microbes causing skin disease occurs. In this 7-part series titled "Microbes & Gut Health," you will learn to identify the microbes present in the gut as well as the impact of microbes on beauty health. Furthermore, you will be taught to recognize the unhealthy lifestyle/wellness habits that lead to microbiome alteration and the techniques used in the lab for identification of microbes.1st Segment: The Anatomy and Physiology of Gut· Intended Learning Outcome:In this segment, you will be introduce to the anatomical structure and normal physiology of the human gut. You will learn in detail about the various structure-related functions of the gut, which is required for the following segment.ACTIVITY: Label the structure of the human digestive system and answer the questions corresponding to its functions.2nd Segment: The Classification of Microbes· Intended Learning Outcome:This next segment describes the classification methods used to categorize microbes. You will learn various classification methods that will be useful in the laboratory perspectives segment.ACTIVITY: Fill in the blanks with the correct bacteria names.3rd Segment: Microbes in Normal Gut· Intended Learning Outcome:From this segment, you will learn about the common microbes found in the upper and lower intestinal tracts. Knowing the types of microbes present in the gut allows you to devise a suitable plan to maintain the balance of beneficial gut microbiota.4th Segment: The Microscopic Images of Microbes· Intended Learning Outcome:At this stage of learning, you will be visually guided on the microscopic images of microbes present in the gut. Using the classification methods described in the previous segment, you will be able to identify various types of gut microbes based on their morphological structures.5th Segment: Lifestyle/Wellness Habits that Can Cause Gut Microbiome Alteration· Intended Learning Outcome:Based on scientific publications, you will learn about the different lifestyle and wellness habits that can alter the homeostatic environment of the gut microbiome in this segment. In addition, you will also be able to identify the specific types of microbes that are linked to certain skin complications.6th Segment: The Effect of Gut Microbes on Beauty and Health· Intended Learning Outcome:The microbes causing skin diseases will be discussed in-depth in this segment. You will learn about the impact of gut microbes on skin health, which is also linked to poor dietary choices. Aside from that, you will also learn the negative effects of having an abundance of dysbiotic microbiota in the gut rather than beneficial microbiota.7th Segment: Laboratory Perspectives of Gut Microbes in Beauty· Intended Learning Outcome:In this final segment, the techniques used by the scientists in the laboratory will be thoroughly explained. You will learn about the various materials and apparatus used in bacteria culture, as well as the proper aseptic technique for preventing medium or bench surface contamination. This is essential; to protect everyone within the vicinity from potentially harmful lab chemicals and sample material, in this case, microbes.ACTIVITY: Identify the microbes based on their morphological structures presented under the microscope.· What you’ll get:· 31:53 minutes on-demand lecture video· 7-Lecture Series·User support – FAQ : Should there be any inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us.· Free trial course of Asia e-University SPEED Certified EWAA Certified Professional in Wellness Beautypreneurship· Be GENUINELY CERTIFIED to manage clients in the business industry (certificate issued by European Wellness Aesthetic Academy) - Contact Us if you are keen to be certified by Asia e-University.
